Embracing Financial Confidence: Overcoming Money Shame

The people who walk through Cashco’s doors come from all different walks of life. Looking at the surface, you wouldn’t think there is something they all have in common. But there is. All of them, at some point in their lives, have experienced what we call “money shame.”

What IS money shame?

You may know the feeling. It’s when you feel sick and ashamed about financial decisions you’ve made in the past. It’s when you open up your banking app and feel bummed because of the number you see. This is beyond guilt; it’s the feeling that we are unworthy, less than others, and a real screw up.

Money shame isn’t limited to Cashco clients; it’s something we all experience from time to time.

It’s worth repeating. All. Of. Us. Every single one of us.

Say “back off’ to money shame

We want to encourage you to tackle that feeling today. Why? Because that feeling isn’t serving you. Money has a huge impact on our quality of life and our futures, but it does not define us as “good” or “bad” people, fresh casino.

Here are three things you can do to say goodbye to money shame.

#1 Forgive Yourself

Just like Robert Brown said in his book, Wealthing like Rabbits: “Don’t wait.” Start by forgiving yourself for any of the bad money‑related decisions you’ve made in the past. Not only that, but make sure you’re also reminding yourself of all the stuff you’ve done right. That’s going to take time, so you need to work on it by reminding yourself on a regular basis.

#2 Self-Reflect

You also need to figure out your own relationship with money and how you value yourself by what you spend and what you earn. We all have subconscious beliefs and money scripts that influence our feelings of money shame. Some self-reflection will help you understand the why behind your money shame and get rid of the pit in your stomach.

#3 Talk About It

One of the biggest ways to overcome money shame is by talking to your loved ones about money. You’ll be surprised at just how quickly they understand. Still not feeling comfortable enough to open up with them? That’s okay.

Practice by talking to us.
