ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

We are seeking the perfect team member to join our Accounting department. This person reports to, and works closely with, the Financial Controller. Their role is vital in providing the data, statements, and analysis that drive every aspect of our business.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • For multiple diverse companies, assist in managing accounting operations (Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition)
  • Manage full cycle accounting including posting journal entries and bank reconciliations
  • Work to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Create and maintain reports for ATB partnership, as well as manage ATB bank reconciliations
  • Monthly and annual financial statements, year end, and reporting
  • EFT and EMT reconciliations
  • Assist with ATB account opening and debit card issuance
  • Create month end reports and presentation for Chief Financial Officer
  • Support financial analysis initiatives as we evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, and products costing
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Advise on and assist in implementing internal audits, controls and checks across all departments
  • Other duties as assigned by Controller and Chief Financial Officer

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in the field of business, accounting, finance or related field
  • 4+ years demonstrated experience in an Accounting role
  • CPA (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation an asset
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP considered an asset
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and various accounting tools
  • Extensive knowledge in Office 365
  • Ability to work with time constraints to provide timely information, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrates self awareness and continuously strives to improve
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a part of a team
